ADMISSION PROCESS

Admission at Asgar Ali Medical College:

Asgar Ali Medical College encourages students who are dedicated, enthusiastic and passionate for the rigorous study of Medicine. Students are also expected to share a mature sense of values and sound goals for pursuing a career in medicine. We accept students from wide educational and geographic backgrounds, with a belief that such a diverse student body will enrich the overall educational experience. This college follows the national guideline policy of student admission.

Admission Eligibility:

1. S.S.C. or equivalent examination in specified years and H.S.C. or equivalent examination in specified years with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. S.S.C. or equivalent examination must be passed within previous two years of H.S.C. or equivalent examination.

2. Minimum combined GPA of 9.0. Minimum GPA of 4 in Biology in HSC or equivalent examination. Candidate referred in any examination will not be eligible to apply.

3. Students who have undertaken O and A level examination should collect equivalence certificates with an ID number from the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME), Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to apply for admission.

Application and Selection Process:

1. A written admission test of 100 marks will be conducted by the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME). Candidates obtaining less than 40 marks in the written examination will be disqualified. Selection of the candidate will be accomplished following the merit list announced by the DGME for the private medical colleges.

2. Selection will be absolutely on merit, based on scores obtained by the candidate:

(SSC GPA x 15) + (HSC GPA x 25) = 200
Written Admission Test = 100
Total = 300

 

3. Applications must be submitted online. Examination fee of Taka 1000/- to be submitted online only through Pre-paid Teletalk services. Details of application procedures and submission are available in www.mefwd.gov.bd, www.dgme.gov.bd, www.dghs.gov.bd and http://dgme.teletalk.com.bd websites.

4. Bangladeshi citizens who passed H.S.C. equivalent examination in other curriculum like O-level/ A-level must have an equivalence certificate from the Director General, Medical Education office. With the certificate the candidate will be provided with an Equivalence Certificate ID. Candidates will not be able to fill the medical admission form without this ID.

5. Instructions regarding submission of other documents like attested photocopy of certain documents, photograph, candidates signature etcetera and the procedure of submission of the form are detailed in the above mentioned websites.

6. Quota:

i. Freedom Fighter Quota: Two (2%) percent seats are reserved in Freedom Fighter quota for the candidates fulfilling the criteria as per government guidelines. Information’s provided by the candidates will be verified from the published gazette in the link of Ministry of Liberation war affairs (MOLWA) website www.molwa.gov.bd -- http://mis.molwa.gov.bd/freedom-fighter-list .

ii. Non-solvent and Meritorious Quota: Five (5%) percent seats are reserved in Non-solvent & meritorious Quota. Candidates in this quota will be selected as per the criteria set by the appropriate authority.

 

7. Original copies of different information and certificates must be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission:

i. S. S.C. & H.S.C or Equivalent Examination Certificate

ii. Testimonial of passing S. S.C. & H.S.C or Equivalent Examination from the Principal of the College from which she/he passed the Examination.

iii. S.S.C. and H.S.C. Marks-sheets

iv. Certificate from the head of the institution in which the applicant studied last regarding her/his character, career and extra-curricular activities.

v.NID/ Birth certificate

vi.3 (three) copies of recent passport size photographs; One of these photographs will be returned to the candidate with signature and seal of the authorized officer for use as identity card to be produced as when necessary.

vii.S. S.C. & H.S.C or Equivalent Examination Registration cards.

 

8. Qualified candidates will be invited to an interview by a board of Medical Specialist for medical fitness test.
Medical Fitness: Every applicant provisionally selected for admission shall be medically examined by a medical board and declared fit for admission.

9. The selected students will pay admission fees and other charges at the time of admission through account payee Pay Order in favor of the College Bank Account.
